I hate Grand Central Station. I hate their loud trains, obnoxious people, and uncomfortable benches. There are always some phonies around trying to steal your wallet. The only thing decent about it is the ceiling. Also that it is my escape out of here. Tomorrow I am going to tell Phoebe that I am leaving the city and going to live out in the woods. I'm so sick of the city. The city is what is wrong with the world. Too many phonies living under one roof. In towns everyone is nice and you can have a happy life free of worry.

My Parents

I really miss my parents at some times. I kind of wish I saw them that night I saw Phoebe. They are nice to be around but some times you just can't stand being in the same room as them. My mom is always nervous so she is always sorting everything out, like fixing your hair, or trying to de-wrinkle your shirt. My dad always pesters me about finishing school, going to college, and having a future. They were more easy going when Allie was alive. Somethings change but not for the better. That's why I hate change. I won't risk it being bad.

Phoebe Weatherfield Caulfield

Now why in the world does old Phoebe want to change her middle name? Josephine is a good name. I guess she wants to sound older and more regal or something. I don't even have a middle name so why is she complaining?

Also why does she care what I do with my life? She wants me to become a lawyer or a doctor like dad. Dad has always been her role model. I think she wants to grow up just like him. What a waste of life. Anyways I've never heard of a women doctor... who knows maybe she will become the first women doctor.

Ice Skating

So this is the picture I took while me and Sally were skating at Rockefeller center. There were no jerks there who tried to show off how well they could skate. I was never good at it myself and Sally wasn't any better. You think she would be. She keeps on telling me how many guys have taking her ice skating. Allie liked to skate. But he never showed off. Phoebe was no better than I was.

Phoebe

I was walking down town today onto Broadway when I decided to buy something for my little sister, Phoebe. I bought her the “Little Shirley Beans” album. She's a great singer. She sings like truth and not that cute little phony stuff like the other singers. Phoebes going to love it. My sister can always understand everything that I talk to her about. No one really understands me like her. It's probably because she's the smartest kid that there is. I miss her but I don't want to call her because my folks might pick up. Oh well I guess I'll just have to keep looking in the park for her.

Those Ducks

Now why is every taxi driver a lunatic? All I did was ask him if he knew where the ducks went when the lake freezes over. Then he got really sore. I don't know what I did but I got him talking really angry. Then he started talking about the fish and how they freeze in the water. First of all I only wanted to know about the ducks. Second of all no living thing can live in ice for months, it's just not possible. Well anyways I sure hope that those ducks are okay...

I've escaped!

I've finnaly done it. Something I wanted to do for a long time. I packed my stuff in the middle of the night, put on my hunting hat and left old Pencey forever. I yelled "Sleep tight, ya morons!” just to get them agitated. They deserve it though because they are all phonies anyways. I'm writing this while I'm on the train to New York. There's a nice lady I'm talking to here. Nice but gullible.

This is my new hunting hat! I bought it for a buck! What a deal. I'm going to wear it as much as possible. It will be my signature look.

Jane

God I haven't heard her name in a while! Wow. We were best friends while growing up and we had some fun times. She is a dancer now I suppose. I hope she's doing good. Well, I guess she isn't doing to good because she has to be around Stradlater all the time. He doesn't deserve her. He's such a slob and a narcissist. He didn't even know her name! He called her Jean! I'm really glad that Stradlater doesn't believe in reading or else he would be pretty mad if he saw what I write about him. I guess I gotta write the goddamn English comp for him...
